GAIA Terra Fest:
An event with social and environmental impact in Santa Marta.

Santa Marta, Colombia – To commemorate Earth Day on April 22, brands Dislicores, Maaji, Task, L'Occitane, ISDIN, Localiza and Tay Beach Hotel joined GreenSouls and a group of influencers and artists to celebrate GAIA Terra Fest, an event focused on promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness through a message of inspiration and action.

During the event, participants carried out various activities to benefit the environment and local communities. On the first day, 60 coral fragments were planted using recycled glass from Dislicores bottles. These coral fragments are part of the long-term initiative of GreenSouls and Dislicores in collaboration with expert biologists from Corpamag and the CIMCaribe foundation: “A Reef of Life” with which they seek to plant more than 20,000 fragments in 2023.

The release of 20 sea turtles of the loggerhead and green species rescued and rehabilitated for more than 2 years by Corpamag was also part of the activities that touched the hearts of those attending the most.

On the second day, beach cleaning was the main activity, with the collaboration of local communities and bags made of recycled plastic from TASK. More than 450 kg of waste was collected, with 300 kg of it being usable. A surfing tournament was also held, in which young local athletes were awarded prizes and sports equipment, professional surfboards and spare parts for them made from environmentally friendly materials were given out. In addition, kitchen and hygiene items were donated to the families of these athletes.

The event concluded with a talk on astrology given by indigenous "mamo" leaders of the Kogui tribe of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

These activities included the participation of renowned influencers and artists, including Ana Sofía Henao, Los de Ñam, Nicole Betancur, María "Mona" Osorio, Sophie Echeverri, Mario Espitia and Marce La Recicladora.

Each brand also did its part to make a positive impact on the event. Maaji, a leading brand in beachwear and sustainability, dressed participants in rashguards to protect them from the sun during the beach clean-up. Dislicores provided glass from its bottles to be recycled and create foundations to plant a new coral reef. Task provided the beach clean-up with its bags made from 98% recycled materials and donated more than 50 hygiene and kitchen kits to local communities. Localiza, for its part, contributed to mobilizing people, donations and dreams to the different spaces where the event was held. Loccitane provided a sensory experience with its products, while ISDIN protected the participants' skin with its sunscreen during the 3 days of hard work for the planet.

GreenSouls, led by its founder Camilo Jaramillo, thanks all the brands, influencers and participants for their collaboration in this event, which seeks to promote sustainability and generate positive change on our planet and invites us to continue promoting this type of spaces to create the change we want to see in the world.
