In a world where public space faces the challenge of being more inclusive, green and sustainable, the first KIA Parks in Colombia is born as a benchmark of how brands can lead real transformations.

Located next to the iconic Pibe Valderrama statue in Santa Marta, this park is the result of the alliance between KIA and GreenSouls , combining urban regeneration, social inclusion and sustainability criteria aligned with the 2030 Agenda.

A new urban lung

More than 5,100 m² of public space were recovered and transformed into an accessible, multifunctional and safe place for everyone.

Its key components include:

  • 3 renovated basketball courts and 1 renovated volleyball court
  • Green areas and street furniture made with over 80% recycled materials
  • 100% inclusive children's play equipment made from recycled plastic
  • Calisthenics, bio-healthy areas and pet zone
  • Ramps, adapted platforms and accessible signage

This design not only responds to inclusion criteria, but also to good sustainable construction practices, reducing the environmental footprint and generating spaces that promote sport, recreation and social cohesion.

Numbers that tell the story

  • +3,000 people benefit each month
  • 12.5 m³ of reused rubble
  • 8 black guayacan trees planted and 100% of trees preserved
  • 30 jobs created , 80% local
  • ↓40% carbon footprint compared to a traditional model
  • 3 participatory workshops to involve the community in the design and use of the space

Impact on the Sustainable Development Goals

This project directly contributes to 7 SDGs:

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 12: Responsible production and consumption
  • SDG 13: Climate Action
  • SDG 15: Life on Land
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Sustainability and circular economy

The KIA Parks Santa Marta is a living example of how to integrate the circular economy into urban infrastructure:

  • Furniture and games made from recycled materials
  • Reusing rubble for furniture
  • Use of eco-efficient, low-VOC paint
  • Conservation and incorporation of native vegetation to generate urban microhabitats

More than a park

The KIA Parks Santa Marta is more than just a physical structure:

It is a replicable model of urban regeneration that demonstrates that brands can transform realities when they commit to sustainability and collaboration.
